Stencil portraits on skateboard grip By Ryan Moore
Ryan Moore is a 38 year old self taught artist who lives in Oamaru, New Zealand. He has painted & refined his portraits on the skateboards under his feet for nearly 20 years. This began by smudging correction fluid with his thumb & over time naturally evolved into stencilling. To do these, a single can of matte white spray paint is used with varying applications giving the different grey scales. Ryan thinks of his portraits as a modern B&W parallel to the velvet paintings that fascinated him as a child. All works are one off’s.
