A frozen sculpture stands in front of a beautiful winter painting

Following along a similar theme of Japanese artist Shintaro Ohata – where interactive sculptures are placed in front of paintings – Laurent Pernot takes it one step further, by creating a sculpture of himself.

The intriguing piece, Self Portrait Face to a Winter Canvas, features a life-sized replica of himself, as he stands in front of a painting depicting a cold winter scene. What’s more, the painting and the sculpture look literally frozen – as though they’re affected by one another. With icicles dripping from the framed painting, as well as from the Paris-based artist’s nose, the whole artwork literally sends a shiver down your spine. Discover more at
