Enter the colourful world of girls lounging at home surrounded by flowers

Beautifully blending the look of embroidery with paint, artist Naomi Okubo creates fashion-conscious paintings that rely on colour and patterns. Her bold pieces depict girls in a natural setting around the home and garden, focusing on strong colours and imagery.

The Tokyo-based artist explains that her work draws inspiration from her own experiences of the inferiority complex as an adolescent. In her paintings it is very apparent that appearances are the driving force as the girls are surrounded by a vibrant culture that sets materialistic items like clothes and furnishings against nature.
