Portraits of Another World

I have always been fascinated by fantastic stories and illustrations. Fairies, nymphs, mermaids, hybrid creatures are my inspiration.

When I start drawing a portrait I don’t always know from the beginning what it will be, I start with the face features and work my way out to the crown, antlers, flowers, the defining elements of what the creature will be.
The colors are one of the most important parts of the process, sometimes they come out instinctively, but most times its an entire study of what I what I want them to represent, it depends on what my creature’s story is and where she is from.

Watercolor is my favorite technique and the most fitting for my vision of ferric creatures it allows the details to flow and wander like the existence of these creatures, not very certain where or why, being defined only where i want the focus to be.
