CORROSIVE PAINTINGS ON METAL | CAMILO ROBLEDO
Camilo Robledo is an artist form Bogota, Colombia who´s focused mostly in figurative work.
His work has been characterized by expressions, tones and strong textures in acrylic. For more than five years, since he concluded his studies in printmaking and watercolor in Campinas, Brazil, he has developed a technique, oxidizing and painting reused zinc.
The reuse of materials led to experimentation particularly with metal, transforming this material into the perfect substrate for a purely plastic work.
In this case, different acid solutions in water are applied to sheets of various types of metal which corrodes and oxidizes them through painting. Through various shades of rust, and interventions in acrylic, the artist obtains these figuration which become key in differentiating the natural organic fate of the piece from the clear intervention of a painter in his work.
Following the gesture of the materials and the work with figuration or gestures aims to find a unique aesthetic and different artistic dialects free from conceptual dogmas.
